OSAT stands for Open Source Appropriate Technology.
The “Appropriate Technology” part means that our solutions are always adjusted to local community abilities and needs. If we cannot design a device from local materials alone, we try to shorten supply chain as much as possible.
Open Source part means that the knowledge – detailed information how to make things – is available at no charge at all. We use freemium economic model1, where we only charge for real new work done – not for copying what is already existing.
